China imports of refined copper up by 15pct in July

China imported 291,800 tonnes of refined copper in July this year, 14.75% more than in the same month of last year according to customs reports. The refined copper imports last month reflected a growth of 5.1% from Jun 2013.

According to statistics, the country's copper ore imports amounted to 938,500 tonnes last month, 65.76% higher than the 673,500 tonnes it realized in Jun 2013.

Although in the first seven months of this year, China's imports of refined copper decreased 22.22% from a year earlier to 1.66 million tonnes, while the country imported 5.4 million tonnes of copper ore during the period up 36.82% YoY.
