Recently, there have been frequent emergencies in South Africa's power supply system.

At the end of December 2021, Eskom stated that it planned to maintain all its power stations and that power rationing is likely to occur frequently in 2022.

South Africa is China's main source of chromium ore and ferrochrome imports. From January to November 2022, China imported 1.29 million tons of ferrochrome from South Africa, accounting for 53.00%. The import volume of chromium ore is 11.0846 million tons, accounting for 80.97%.

The unstable power supply will affect the chrome mining, ferrochrome production and export rhythm in South Africa, or have an important impact on China's chrome and ferrochrome supply in 2022.
