Brazil´s total ferroalloys exports fell 9.1% year-on-year in January

Brazil´s total ferro-alloys exports fell 9.1% year-on-year in January to 33,492 tonnes, due to decreases in ferro-nickel, ferro-silicon and ferro-niobium shipments.

Exports for the month totalled 33,492 tonnes, down 9.1% from a year ago, according to information from Brazilian trade ministry. Export revenues amounted to $171.18 million in the month, compared with $223.58 million in January 2012. The main exported products were: Ferro-nickel Ferro-nickel exports dropped by 22.71% year-on-year in January to 7,103 tonnes. Revenues also fell to $36.54 million from $50.71 million in January 2012. The UK was the main importer of Brazilian ferro-nickel, accounting for 4,987 tonnes of the exports in the period, up from the 975 tonnes it acquired in January 2012.
