In April this year, manganese ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland totaled 53,803 metric tons, decreasing 59.3 percent compared to March, and down 65.6 percent compared to the same month of 2012, according to the monthly data released by the Port Hedland Port Authority.

According to the released information, South Korea was the only export destination for manganese ore shipments from Port Hedland in April this year with shipments decreasing 36.7 percent month on month. On the other hand, there is no record of manganese ore shipments from Port Hedland to South Korea in the same month of the previous year.

Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group and Atlas Manganese in the manganese ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
