EUROFER: European steel demand will grow by 5.6% in 2024

On February 8, the European Steel Association EUROFER forecasted that European steel demand in 2024 will increase by 5.6% as industrial production recovers but with gains limited by geopolitical and economic uncertainty.

This figure represents a pessimistic point of view from EUROFER, given that its previous forecasts for steel consumption would rebound by 7.6% in 2024.

Axel Eggert, the general director of EUROFER, commented that the European steel industry still does not see the light at the end of the tunnel and that it urgently needs a European industrial agreement to ensure a future for the sector and its entire value chain to survive.
