Philippine SteelAsia to start new steel sections mill in 2027

Philippine SteelAsia planned to start the operation of a heavy steel sections mill in Candelaria, Quezon Province, in 2027. The project is expected to cost PHP 30 billion, and the core equipment and technology will be provided by Italy's steel technology supplier, Danieli.
SteelAsia indicated that the steel mill will use the latest European steel technology, and the production will be more than one million tons annually. The main products contain H-beams, I-beams, angles, channels, sheet piles, narrow plates, and other heavy-duty steel. Currently, these products are 100% imported, which are mainly from China and Vietnam.
The heavy steel mill is expected to have a carbon footprint lower than similar facilities worldwide. It will reduce approximately 2 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year.
