According to the report, the US Copper Development Association (CDA) has suggested that the government to impose tariffs on imports of semi-finished copper products and copper alloy products, such as copper plates, sheets, strips, and wires. Meanwhile, the CDA has requested an exemption from tariffs for certain commodity ingredients, including electrolytic copper and scrap copper.

The CDA concluded that imposing tariffs on electrolytic copper would be detrimental to the domestic semi-finished copper processing industry and could increase national security risks for the US.

The CDA also called for a complete ban on US scrap copper exports to reduce China and other countries' access to US copper resources.
