Metso Corp., a Finnish industrial machinery company, has secured a new order, valued at around EUR 32 million, to deliver a third iron ore sintering plant for Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) at its IISCO Steel Plant (ISP) in Asansol, West Bengal.

The new facility, which is expected to be operational by 2029, will have a production capacity of 2.67 million tons per year. It is a key component of SAIL's massive 4 MTPA crude steel expansion project.

Metso's delivery includes its Emission Optimised Sintering (EOS) technology, which is designed to improve energy efficiency and environmental performance. This advanced technology is expected to cut CO2 emissions by more than 54,000 tons annually, supporting India’s goal for more efficient and sustainable steel production.
