China sets GDP growth target of 4.5-5.0 percent for 2026

On March 5, Premier Li Qiang of China delivered the government work report to the Fourth Session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), announcing that China is setting a GDP growth target of 4.5–5.0 percent for 2026, while striving for better in practice. In addition, with the surveyed urban unemployment rate at around 5.5 percent, over 12 million new urban jobs will be created in 2026, while a reduction of around 3.8 percent in carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP will be realized.
