Glencore announced that its annual ferrochrome production for 2023

On February 1st, South African chromium company Glencore announced that its annual ferrochrome production for 2023 reached 1.162 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 22% (2022: 1.488 million tons). In the fourth quarter of 2023, the production of ferrochrome reached 289,000 tons, an increase of 85.3% compared to the previous quarter (156,000 tons in the third quarter of 2023). The significant decline in ferrochrome production throughout the year is mainly due to the extended shutdown period of its ferrochrome plant during the winter season in South Africa due to high electricity costs. The expected production target for Glencore ferrochrome in 2024 is 1.1-1.2 million tons.
